FREQUENTLY ASKED LASH QUESTIONS
Get all your eyelash extensions questions answered!
HOW LONG DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS LAST?
Your lashes will last up to 4 weeks, and you will most likely need a fill between 2 and 3 weeks. Your natural lashes go through growth cycles with lashes ranging between the Anagen (active growth/baby lashes), Catagen (transitional lashes/the sweet spot), and Telogen (resting) phases. We place extensions on the catagen and telogen natural lashes, as the lashes grow and naturally fall out, the extension will come with it. As new lashes grow in we add on new lash extensions. This cycle is constantly happening every 4-6 weeks.
WILL EYELASH EXTENSIONS DAMAGE MY NATURAL LASHES?
Absolutely not. Extensions are applied to one isolated natural lash at a time to prevent lashes from gluing together. The proper length and thickness is chosen for your natural lash to avoid weighing the lashes down.
CAN I STILL WEAR MASCARA?
Mascara is not recommended, but can be worn as long as it's water based. You will only want to apply it to the tips of your lashes for easy removal. It is asked that you remove any mascara or eye makeup before your appointment.
CAN I WEAR CONTACT LENSES AND GLASSES WITH EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Yes. You may want to remove your contacts before your appointment to avoid irritation, but they are completely ok to wear with extensions. If you wear glasses, it's recommended to opt for a shorter and curlier lash to avoid the extensions from hitting your glasses.
WHY DO I NEED FILLS?
Your lashes go through cycles where a percentage of your lashes naturally shed. This process happens every week with different lashes. When you get a fill, new extensions are applied to new lash growth. Lash loss can also be related to over use of oils, steam, excessive touching/pulling, or possibly with some medications.
ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS ITCHY OR PAINFUL?
Absolutely not. Eyelash extensions are applied away from the lid and applied with extra care to avoid sticking and poking. You should feel no pain and no itching, if you do please don't hesitate to call to receive a fix.
DO'S AND DONT'S OF LASHES
Aftercare is an essential part in maintaining not just lash health, but the life of your lash extensions! Here are our most necessary aftercare do's and dont's!
Use oil free products, including face washes, moisturizers, makeup removers, etc.
Keep any rubbing, touching, pulling, and especially plucking of the lashes to a minimum.
Brush lashes at least once daily, i.e. after waking up, before going to bed, or whenever needed.
Wash your lashes DAILY and thoroughly with an oil free foaming cleanser. This will prevent bacteria build up from any oils on
the skin, makeup, and common daily bacteria. Ultimately making your lashes last longer!
Lash wash available for purchase through our shop tab or in the salon!
Any water on the lashes for at least 24 hours after each eyelash service.
Avoid brushing when wet, due to lashes being in a weaker state.
Avoid cutting the lashes if they feel too long. Extensions are tapered to look natural, so cutting will
result in a blunt look.
Avoid saunas, steam, excessive hot showers, and extremely humid environments. This results in the
weakening of the glue.
YOU MAY EXPERIENCE/NOTICE
You may notice the side most commonly slept on will fall out sooner, but it’s completely normal. If possible, sleeping on your back is best for the extensions.
If you experience any feeling of itching, swelling, redness, burning, tugging or pain in or around the eye area, please contact your technician as soon as possible.
If you experience an excessive amount of extension loss within 48 hours please contact your technician as soon as possible.
Everyone's natural lashes and eye shapes are different. We will do our best and utilize our expertise to give you a suitable look that will compliment your eye shape and everyday life. We will recommend what we think will suit you the most. Sometimes what you came in wanting may not work best.
Natural lash shedding is normal, you typically lose between 2-5 lashes per day alone. In some cases you can be going through lash cycle, causing excessive amount of extension loss. This is totally normal and a healthy sign your lashes are growing!
If you work out/sweat a lot, have oily skin, or have a picking habit, eyelash extensions may not last as long on you. You will have to work a little harder to keep them clean. Washing daily or after sweating will maintain the life much longer!
Allergic reactions can and do happen! A common sign of an allergic reaction to the adhesive or gel pads used would be itching, swelling, or redness of the eye area within 48 hours of receiving your service. Let us know if this happens and we can remove the lashes. You can also try applying a non wet cold compress or hydrocortisone until it subsides.
If you tend to have sensitive eyes or are worried abut having a reaction, we are happy to do a patch test on your wrist with all the products we would use during your application. We can also use medical tape in place of gel pads!
Not properly keeping the extensions clean can lead to infection, clogged hair follicles, or styes. It is VITAL to keep the lashes clean as they're more likely to catching dirt and debris.
If you are a side sleeper, you may notice the side most commonly slept on may fall out faster.
